CANNING PEARS :)

Well I have tried to dodge the canning projects for years now with my mom but since she broke her wrist I thought I would go down and help her can her pears. It actually wasn't as bad as I remembered it as a child and I might even do it again. I think there are things that we do as kids that seem so awful but I guess after you experience life a little they don't seem so bad. My dream is to have a house with a big storage room so that my mom can stalk it with all of her good canning products. :) I told my mom that if something happened to her or my grandma I would be toast because I haven't learned their tricks to good canning so I guess I better start taking part. My grandma is amazing too and even did all of my mom's peaches & beets for her this year. Thanks mom for helping me can your pears and I hope to be able to help you again, next year. :) Just remember I won't can BEETS!!!

YUMMY!!! Don't they look good???

YUMMY! Nicki is the only one who got that "canning gene" from our mom! I just live without the deliciousness of freshly bottled fruit!

I like your new layout!

I'm very impressed with the canning! I remember my Mom doing that every year. I'm proud of you for learning how to do it!

It was fun to see Angie last week. Her kids are SO cute!

My mom was never into canning, so I knew nothing about it until I married into Andy's family. Sandra is a big time "Canner." Each year she pulls all of us daughter-in-laws together and we put up hundreds and hundreds of bottles (well at least it feels like that many!) It actually is kind of fun! It is good to learn those skills. I hope we can all carry on these traditions in the years to come-
Good Job!

I am pretty convinced that it would be just the same as when we were kids--MISERABLE!!! But I do need to learn how eventually. Maybe that should be my goal for next year, or maybe the next...

Emily, they look great!! There is nothing so fulfilling, at least to me, as canning! I love it. I am glad that you are doing it too!

Yaa for you. I always thinking canning is for the adults to do. Great job!

Way to go! That's definately something I haven't learned yet--a can handle the cutting and pealing, from there I've just always let my mom finish! I need to learn one of these days... Anyway, looks like you guys are doing good!

I really need to learn how to do all of those things my Mom and Grandma's did. I have made homemade bread a time or two and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The pears do look delicious! Way to go! You are such a great daughter to help your Mom out!

Emily! Guess who my new boss is at First American? Jeff Barnes! He is the nicest guy in the world! I'm so happy to get to work with him. I remember him asking me if I knew you like four years ago and today it came back to me for some random reason. He told me to tell you "HI!"

Em. I think i may need to come and steal some of those pears from you. They look really really good!!! I need to learn how to can more things. All i really know how right now is Jalapeno Jelly. That doesn't get me far if something happened, I guess i would also have to stock up on crackers to eat it with! P.S. Let's get together soon (do lunch or something)

We just canned our pears, well, Dave did :) and he said it was not fun! What is it about our parents generation that makes them such awesome canners. I feel the same about my mom.

I love pears, they do look so good. I want to plant a pear tree next year. I canned peaches for the first time last week! It's really not too bad. That was nice of you to help your mom out.

Good Job!!! I really need to get some food storage going...it's always nice to have stuff like that on hand! Looks like you are doing well. And ya, sorry about Kelly:( I don't know what his deal is. He is still not very confident in himself so I guess that's why he's being a stink! Hopefully we can plan something:)
